Be leary of dining in restaurants

I will advise you to be extremely cautious about dining in restaurants.  In fact, to put it bluntly, I would try to steer clear of eating out in general unless you know for a fact that only certified organic ingredients are utilized.  It is not the gastronomical experience that you hope it to be.  I, myself, have been naive  and believed that everything eaten out had to be tastier and more nutritious than what you could get at home.  Not the case at all!  I know this from first hand experience since I have “trailed” at some of New York City’s high-end restaurant kitchens.  What I saw was shocking to say the least.  Not only are there no organic oils but no olive oil can even be found.  I was appalled to see corn oil or soy oil used for frying purposes.  Corn and soy oil are cheap oils that are genetically modified and contain high levels of omega 6’s which have been proven to cause degenerative disease in the body.  One restaurant even added large chunks of butter to this oil mixture.  Ugh!

As for the seasoning, only standard white table salt was used.  I saw no use of sea salt.  The baking area used only white sugar and white flour.

Your fine dining experience basically consists of the following scenario.

You start out with a glass of chlorinated ice water followed by soft rolls made with white flour that would be better off rolled in your hand and used for hockey pucks.  These morsels are accompanied by gobs of cheap quality butter. So, your culinary adventure consists of refined white flour, fat and chlorine.  Definitely not my idea of fine dining!

Next, the appetizer arrives.  It is plated lovely but deep-fried in some cheap quality oil and camouflaged with a stack of microgreens.  Next, arrives the salad which consists of mainly lettuce since it is the cheapest ingredient.  It is smothered in a creamy dressing that reeks of mysterious hidden ingredients that you can not pronounce.

The entrée arrives which consists of pasta, a refined carbohydrate made out of white flour or a piece of protein (meat or fish) which covers 3/4 of the plate with a smattering of some tasteless bland cooked vegetable.

It is time for dessert, the icing on the cake, no pun intended.  More refined white flour and loads of white sugar are presented in a stylish mannerism.  This meal may be eye-appealing but it is devoid of nutrients in every sense of the word!  No wonder so many people are ill.
